Length of contract: Until 30 June 2026 Contract extensions: 2x 12 months Security clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 Rates: $110 - $140 per hour (inc. super) The Data Architect is responsible for designing, creating, deploying and managing the Australian Electoral Commission''s (AEC) data architecture for the Data Platforms capability. This role ensures that the Data Platform systems are scalable, secure and efficient, support the AECs strategic objectives and operational needs. The Data Architect collaborates with stakeholders to understand data requirements, models and policies to ensure data integrity and accessibility. By leveraging data technologies and best practices, the Data Architect plays a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making and fostering innovation within the AEC. Key duties and responsibilities: This role will be responsible for, but not limited to: Create and maintain the overall data architecture, including data models, data flow diagrams and data integration processes for the Data Platforms capability in line with enterprise standards and requirements. Ensure the architecture supports scalability, performance, and security requirements Work closely with stakeholders across the Indigo Program to understand the data requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Collaborate with IT teams, Data Platform Team, Indigo Technical Teams to ensure alignment with product goals. Oversee the integration of data from various sources into the Data Platform. Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Implement measures to protect sensitive data and prevent data breaches. Monitor and optimise data systems for performance and efficiency. Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in data architecture and incorporate best practices. 5+ years of hands-on experience with data architecture at an enterprise level. Demonstrated ability to use best practice data management methods and suitable data analysis tools and techniques. Expert knowledge of data management and related tools; Experience with developing data warehouse, data lake, and enterprise big data solutions within cloud-platforms. Strong interpersonal skills; Experience with team management; Excellent problem-solving, communication and presentation skills. Understands and manages stakeholder expectations to deliver data-driven solutions. Proficient in writing technical documentation using appropriate templates/version control. Bachelor''s degree in computer science, information technology, or a similar field. Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth frameworks, including ICT frameworks and Resource Management and data storage and warehousing solutions. Certifications or training evidence in Data Management.
