Head of Rowing - St Catherines School, Toorak VIC St Catherines School is seeking an outstanding and values-driven Head of Rowing to lead and further develop one of Australias most respected schoolgirl rowing programs. Since 1987, rowing has been a proud part of the Schools sporting tradition. Based at Mercantile Rowing Club on the Yarra River, the program is recognised for technical excellence, strong team culture, and athlete development. Recent years have seen crews earn titles at the Victorian State Championships and the Australian National Rowing Championships, with the First VIII capturing their third Head of the Schoolgirls title in 2025. In 2022, they also became the first Australian schoolgirl crew to win the Prince Philip Challenge Trophy at the Henley Royal Regatta, marking a significant milestone. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing and inclusive program that empowers girls through sport while continuing a proud tradition of excellence. The Opportunity The Head of Rowing provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Schools Rowing Program. The role is responsible for fostering a culture where girls are supported to develop confidence, resilience and a lifelong love of the sport. Working closely with the Director of Sport, the Head of Rowing leads the program across all levels, from beginner crews through to senior competitive teams, ensuring consistent coaching standards, athlete development and strong team culture. Key Responsibilities Lead the strategic development and delivery of the St Catherines Rowing program Design and implement seasonal training programs aligned with best-practice athlete development Foster a positive, student-centred culture of teamwork, resilience and performance Recruit, mentor and support rowing coaches across all squads Oversee crew selections, regatta entries and rowing camps Manage program logistics including equipment planning, scheduling and operations About You You will be a dynamic and experienced rowing leader with: Experience leading or coordinating a school or club rowing program Demonstrated success coaching or managing rowing crews at school, club or state level Strong understanding of training principles, technical development and regatta preparation Experience mentoring coaches and building strong team culture Excellent organisational, communication and relationship-building skills Rowing coaching accreditation, Working With Children Check and boat licence (or ability to obtain) Why St Catherines?
