This is an exciting opportunity for a Peer worker to join our headspace team at Fremantle on Fixed-Term Full-time basis. Role and Responsibilities The headspace Peer Worker is a lived experience role responsible for providing nonclinical, recovery-oriented support to young people accessing headspace. The role uses personal, or carer lived experience of mental health challenges to build trust, normalise help seeking and support young people to engage with care pathways, digital supports and community connections. The Peer Worker will support individual and group interactions, promote digital service options including eheadspace and MOST, and contribute to continuous service improvement. The role provides an additional, low barrier access point for young people who may be socially isolated, cautious of traditional services or unsure about mental health support. The Peer Worker works collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, supports youth and family participation activities, and aligns all work to the WAPHA Activity Schedule, headspace Model Integrity Framework, and Lived Experience Workforce Guidelines. You will receive consistent support by participating in regular clinical and peer supervision, and presenting and discussing young peoples status and progress with the clinical care team. To be successful Resume the following requirements: Personal lived experience of mental health challenges or lived experience as a carer or family member of a person with mental health challenges. Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, equivalent qualification, or willingness to undertake this qualification as a condition of role. Ability to use lived experience in a purposeful and safe way to support others. Understanding of youth mental health and the factors that influence wellbeing for young people aged 12 to 25. Ability to build rapport with diverse young people including those from LGBTQIA+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse communities. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team setting with a demonstrated understanding of what is required to be a positive team member in such an environment. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to engage with, establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of people, including young people, health professionals, educators, academic researchers, and service providers. Ability to use a desktop/laptop computer, with familiarity with the Microsoft Windows environment and Microsoft Office applications. Well-developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines. Knowledge of the provision of assessment and treatment services as well as other best practice mental health intervention.
