Australian United Retailers (AUR) is the national support office behind FoodWorks and a network of 500+ independent supermarkets across Australia, representing more than $1B in annual retail turnover. We are seeking a commercially focused IT leader to drive AURs technology strategy and delivery. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is part of the executive leadership team, accountable for ensuring AURs technology platforms deliver reliable performance, measurable outcomes, and real value for independent retailers. This is a role for a leader who can set the technology direction while delivering disciplined execution against clear KPIs and business outcomes. Technology Environment Supporting 500+ supermarket locations nationally Retail systems including POS, loyalty platforms, ERP, and supplier integrations Managing a multi-vendor technology ecosystem Delivering technology capability for a $1B+ retail network Key Responsibilities Set and execute AURs technology strategy and roadmap aligned to business priorities Ensure high performance and reliability across core retail systems including POS, ERP, and loyalty platforms Deliver key technology projects on time, on budget, and against defined outcomesEstablish and manage IT performance KPIs and service metrics Manage relationships with technology vendors and service partners Strengthen cyber security, infrastructure stability, and disaster recovery capability Support the business with data, reporting, and technology innovation across the national network Manage AURs technology budget and ensure disciplined investment What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months Establish a clear IT roadmap aligned to strategic priorities Improve system reliability and uptime across the national store network Successfully deliver priority technology upgrades and key projects Strengthen cyber security and risk management frameworks Improve retailer satisfaction with core technology platforms Leadership Profile Were looking for a leader who: Thinks commercially about technology investment Holds teams and vendors accountable to performance metrics Can operate strategically with the CEO and Board Is comfortable moving between strategy and handson delivery Understands the operational realities of multisite retail environments Experience Proven experience in a Head of IT / IT Director / Senior IT Leadership role Strong exposure to retail, FMCG, wholesale, or multi-site environment Experience managing retail technology ecosystems (POS, ERP, loyalty, store systems) Track record delivering major IT projects and technology transformation initiatives Strong vendor management and commercial capability Experience within supermarket retail or FMCG environments, including retailers, wholesalers, or technology providers supporting the grocery industry. Experience supporting independent supermarket networks will be highly regarded.
