We have a permanent opportunity available for a knowledgeable and forward thinking professional to take the lead in the strategic operation and management of the Citys drainage assets - with a strong focus on natural systems. This role provides specialist advice, program coordination and asset management insights to ensure natural and engineered drainage infrastructure, and their key interfaces, are managed efficiently, sustainably and in alignment with Councils legislative, safety and strategic frameworks. Key Responsibilities: Drive maintenance excellence - support the planning, optimisation and delivery of both programmed and reactive maintenance activities across natural and engineered drainage assets by providing high level technical and strategic advice. Act as the drainage subject matter expert - serve as the primary point of contact for drainage related matters within the Civil Services Department. Lead inspections and investigations - undertake targeted inspections, investigations and research to support program development, risk assessment and continuous improvement. Maintain high quality asset data - ensure drainage asset information is accurate, complete and wellmaintained to support inspection frequencies, reporting requirements and longterm forecasting. Shape long term strategy - develop and implement long term, end to end strategies that ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and Council policies. Coordinate annual programs - lead the development and delivery of the annual drainage maintenance program and renewal projects in line with Council policy. Build strong partnerships - establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, external agencies, contractors and community stakeholders to support coordinated service delivery. Youll bring a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking and hands on experience in managing drainage assets. Your background includes: Experience in the evaluation, design, management, rehabilitation and preventative maintenance of drainage infrastructure, including delivering effective maintenance strategies Proven ability to develop and deliver complex drainage maintenance and rehabilitation programs, with an understanding of relevant legislation, standards and best practice Capability to work within Council policies, collaborate with operational crews and support safe, compliant maintenance activities A solid understanding of engineering fundamentals relevant to drainage and asset management Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret asset data, assess risk and contribute to longterm asset planning Experience using asset management systems, GIS or other spatial/data analysis tools to support decision making Well developed time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities under limited direction Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical reports and provide practical advice to leaders and operational staff A qualification in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Management C Class Drivers Licence Why City of Moreton Bay?
