Our research focuses on the four key areas impacting childrens health: cancer, genomics and genetic diseases, neurobiology, and embryology. Work with a team of dedicated professional Join the Stem Cell and Organoid Facility at Children''s Medical Research Institute (CMRI), a cutting-edge service driving breakthroughs in regenerative medicine and precision therapies. We use stem cells and organoid technology to model human disease, uncover mechanisms, and accelerate treatment development. We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support daily operations and stem cell projects, working closely with CMRI''s Research Units and collaborating laboratories. Key responsibilities include: Perform human iPSC reprogramming including colony picking, expansion, cryopreservation, and banking under validated SOPs. Execute QC assays: pluripotency marker analysis (e.g., OCT4, SOX2, NANOG, TRA-1-60/81), karyotype or genomic integrity checks (as directed), mycoplasma testing, morphology and viability assessments. Conduct organoid derivation and culture (e.g., brain, hepatic, renal, heart organoids), including following meticulous differentiation protocols which involve matrix handling, media preparation, passaging. Execute QC assays for differentiation and maintain project documentation. Prepare samples for downstream analyses (e.g., IF/ICC, flow cytometry, qPCR, scRNA-seq library prep handover, proteomics) if required. Perform consumables inventories and daytoday activities for smooth operation e.g. media preparation and aliquoting. Ensure equipment calibration and preventive maintenance logs are up to date. Accurately record experimental data, deviations, and corrective actions in laboratory notebooks. Prepare technical updates at key milestones throughout duration projects, and final technical reports for customers at the conclusion of the project. Provide assistance in duties which contribute to the general organisation and management of the Research Facilities wet lab area and Stem Cell and Organoid Facility Tissue Culture suite. Provide assistance, guidance and training to other members of the group. Full time/Fixed Term role 37.5 hours per week. Excellent not for profit tax benefits. What can you bring to this role Strong knowledge of relevant area of scientific research, including tissue culture, and histology. Handson experience in the relevant area of cell culture. Advanced computer skills and proficiency with database programs. Advanced understanding of the clinical aspects of research. Appropriate degree in a relevant discipline, preferentially Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree or Masters (MS) degree in life sciences (biology, microbiology, biochemistry etc.). 1-2 years research lab experience. Proficient in routine cell techniques including mammalian cell culture.
