Mechanical CAD Manager / Mechanical Drafting Lead BDE Group, a Perth-based drafting and engineering support company tailored to the unique needs of HVAC Contractors in the Australian building industry, is seeking an experienced Mechanical CAD Manager / Mechanical Drafting Lead to oversee our drafting team and support project delivery through design to construction across a range of commercial projects. This role will suit an experienced Mechanical CAD / BIM professional looking to step into a leadership role who enjoys mentoring teams, improving drafting standards, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. It is expected that the Mechanical CAD Manager will have core mechanical HVAC engineering design knowledge, including duct and pipe design, ventilation calculations and familiarity with Australian Standards and the National Construction Code. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the HVAC AutoCAD/Revit drafting team across multiple mechanical services projects. Oversee preparation of shop drawings, coordination drawings, and fabrication details for ductwork, pipework, and mechanical services equipment. Review of design specifications and drawings to identify any potential constructability issues or scope gaps. Coordinate closely with Clients, including project managers, mechanical engineers, estimators, and site supervisors to ensure drawings align with construction requirements. Maintain and improve company CAD standards, templates, and workflows. Review and approve drawings prepared by the drafting team prior to submission to Clients. Coordinate as-built documentation and handover packages at project completion. Mentor and develop junior CAD drafters and Revit modellers. Skills & Experience Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Building Services, or related field. 5+ years experience in HVAC/mechanical services drafting within a building services environment (Consultant or Contractor experience preferred). Advanced proficiency and knowledge in AutoCAD and Revit (MEP). Experience producing construction shop drawings and coordination models. Familiarity with BIM coordination tools such as Navisworks. Strong understanding of Australian mechanical services standards and construction practices. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills. $100,000 $120,000 + superannuation, subject to experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
