As one of the regions largest employers, were proud to contribute to a community where your impact reaches far beyond the workplace.In this role you will be accountable for:* Supporting implementation of the H&S management strategy, mine safety management system framework and H&S risk reduction programs, ensuring priority remains on critical risk management.* Conducting trend analysis and interrogating governance systems, to identify continuous improvement focus areas, and value add by initiating and participating in special projects.* Supporting the H&S Manager as required, including tracking and facilitation of Statutory Reporting, liaising with Corporate and Regulatory officials.* Demonstrating due diligence to achieve and maintain operational awareness with a disciplined approach to legal compliance and proactive risk management.* Providing strategic and operational advice to the H&S Manager to ensure that training and development is suitable for the operation and associated risks.* Actively coordinating and supporting a team of safety professionals through mentoring, coaching, training facilitation, career development and succession planning activities.* Identifying and initiating localised Fatal and Serious Injury Prevention initiatives and influence leaders to reduce risk and share best practice.* Acting in the role of location H&S Manager as required, including provision of leave coverage.**Whats on offer:*** **We support relocations to Portland*** Attractive remuneration and variable bonus plan* Employee growth and development opportunities* Parental leave support for all caregivers.* Alcoa Live Well program offering travel, lifestyle, health and wellbeing discounts.* Salary packaging for a novated car lease, employee share plan and superannuation options* Connect and be part of a community that celebrates diversity through our employee inclusion groups.**What you can bring to the role:**To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:* Tertiary qualifications in H&S related fields.* Strong Health & Safety related experience, ideally in a heavy industry or industrial environment.* Knowledge and application of legislative standards to ensure Alcoas compliance to WHS requirements.* Risk Based H&S Management* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to lead people in the continuous improvement of health and safety systems, and performance.**Additional information*** Interviews may progress prior to the closing date, although all applications will be considered.* You will only be contacted if you are shortlisted for an interview, this process can take up to four weeks from the closing date.#LI-TW2**About the Location**Our Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%).
