We have a current opportunity for a Software Engineer, on a contract basis within the Defence sector. The role is based in Adelaide, SA. The contract is for a 9 month period. DSS Skill Set: Level 3 - Systems and Software Engineering - Software Engineer Duties Perform all activities associated with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications. Define system and software requirements. Analyze customer requirements and translate them into a design. Work with Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with your teams. Identify potential roadblocks and develop software solutions where the solution is not always well defined. Work to improve performance metrics through critical planning and execution of development tasks. Respond to and resolve software discrepancies against requirements. Collaborate with a team to define software requirements. Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions for customers. Contribute to the front-end, GUI development, back-end, and database architecture, ensuring integration and compliance with Defence policies. Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements and industry/defence standards. Explore new areas or program in new languages to deliver solutions. Minimum mandatory requirements AGSVA Security Clearance. Defence experience. Bachelor''s degree in Electronic Engineering, software engineering, computer science, or related field. Strong expertise in software engineering standards, specifications, and best practices. Experience with full stack development and deployment (GUI development, databases, integration APIs, Docker, Kubernetes etc) Working in EW/ defence experience preference. Experience with software quality assurance, testing, and validation. Adaptable and proactive, comfortable with ambiguity, shifting requirements, and solving complex problems in evolving environments. Self driven and organised, capable of managing workload independently while contributing reliably to team outcomes. Collaborative and team focused, working effectively with SMEs, developers, and the program lead to deliver priority outcomes.
