This is a standout opportunity to take on a clinical leadership role with real scope to shape and expand modern models of geriatric care - while enjoying an excellent worklife balance in a beautiful coastal location.Senior leadership role with influence across frailty, cognition, rehabilitation, orthogeriatrics, and virtual careRemuneration package upto $549,694 p.a.( commensurate with experience)Coastal lifestyle offering affordable housing, short commutes, and a welcoming communityThe Role Bundaberg Hospital is a 158bed acute facility offering comprehensive services including Emergency, General Medicine and Surgery, ICU/CCU, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Renal, Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, and Medical Imaging, supported by a broad specialist network.This role provides senior clinical leadership in geriatric medicine, delivering and developing modern models of care for frail older patients across acute, subacute, ambulatory, community, and virtual settings.Key clinical and leadership focus areas include:Rapid Access Frailty ServicesVirtual geriatric medicineCognitive and behavioural services (including dementia, delirium, and BPSD)Orthogeriatric careRehabilitation services for older personsYou will also provide consultant oversight of the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Unit and participate in an acute general medicine oncall roster.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide consultantled inpatient, outpatient, and consultative geriatric careLead and develop multidisciplinary frailty, cognitive, rehabilitation, and orthogeriatric servicesSupport safe patient flow, discharge planning, and continuity of careLead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and family discussionsContribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and service developmentEnsure highquality documentation and communication across care settingsRequirementsFellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent overseas specialist qualifications (e.g. CCT (UK), CSCST (Ireland), ABIM Board Certification (USA), RCPSC (Canada), or Vocational Registration in NZ)Specialist registration with AHPRA, or eligibilityDemonstrated experience in geriatric medicine, including frailty, cognition, rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary careA collaborative leadership style and commitment to service developmentThe Location The Coral Coast region of Queensland is a 4 hour drive north of Brisbane and its regional centre, Bundaberg, is centred on the picturesque Burnett River.
