Job Description The USFP Foundation Program Casual Teacher will work as directed by the Academic Managers in a range of areas related to their field(s) of expertise, undertaking such duties as: Unit/Course Governance Develop, review and maintain module outline to ensure compliance with program accreditation and partner university requirements Develop, review and maintain unit calendar every term to be aligned with module outline and online learning system Develop, review and maintain the online management system by setting up and/or updating module delivery content (lecture, tutorial, workshop, lab and/or assessment) Develop, setup and confirm accuracy of assessment (including online rubrics) in the online learning system Review on an ongoing basis the learning management system (moodle) module gradebooks for accuracy and accessibility to staff and students Ensure formal assessment papers are moderated and signed off by internal moderators and Faculty Liaison Officers (where relevant) Communicate to students the Taylors College Academic Misconduct policy Report any academic misconduct of any nature to the Academic Manager as soon as possible via the documented Academic Misconduct Policy and Procedure Actively pursue ongoing personal professional development Ensure classes are not left unattended for the duration of facetoface/online teaching sessions Unit/Course Facilitation Develop, maintain, facilitate and review the relevant USFP modules applying a variety of teaching methods (including flexible delivery), which reflect best practice teaching methodology Develop, review and modify assessments (including rubrics) for various contexts and delivery methods Prepare, maintain, coordinate and evaluate teaching and learning resources Prepare and provide feedback on formative assessment tasks Prepare for and manage intervention weeks providing feedback to individual students. Ensure marking of assessments with sufficient detailed feedback to assist students academic improvement Ensure the completion of any examination and/or supplementary examination papers Assist with diagnosing student learning difficulties and report to the Associate Director Student Support and Experience Complete banding document at key interval during the term to assist the Associate Director Student Support and Experience Guide and assist new learning facilitators when required Be responsible for effective classroom management (i.e. attendance, inclass behaviour) Academic Scholarship Review and regularly update annual professional development plan Provide feedback report after attending scholarly activities (i.e. conferences, seminars etc.) Conduct and be part of ongoing peer and manager lesson observations General Administration Undertake administrative and coordination duties related to the teaching program delivery function Take student roll and record attendance for each session Maintain enrolled users in the learning management system Ensure accurate results for assessments are uploaded to the learning management system within prespecified time Participate in meetings, activities and networks (both internal and external) relevant to the position Marking, grading of examination papers and uploading of final marks before prior arranged deadline Completion of any module reports and review as and when requested Qualifications Essential Tertiary qualifications in education and/or a relevant field of expertise related to the Science being taught. Extensive experience teaching higher education diplomas in a university pathway program. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with a learning management system to assist and enhance the delivery of subject content. Demonstrated understanding of and empathy for a multicultural environment. A comprehensive understanding of pathway programs and their articulation with university courses. Demonstrated ability to work independently and initiate change. Demonstrated ability to work with changing priorities and meeting deadlines. Working with children check undertaken prior to appointment. Desirable Demonstrable knowledge of quality principles and methodology incorporating continuous improvement initiatives. Expertise in curriculum design and the use of learning technologies.
