Job Description

The People Branch at the AEC is responsible for people strategy, services and support. This includes employee relations, safety and wellbeing, workforce planning, analysis and reporting, as well as recruitment, onboarding, payroll, systems, capability development, engagement, diversity and inclusion. The Opportunities As a Director, you will lead and inspire specialist teams, partnering closely with business areas to deliver high quality, customer focused HR solutions. You will work in an environment characterised by complexity, sensitivity and pacewhere sound judgement, integrity and strong leadership are essential. Key responsibilities include: Leading the delivery of strategic and operational HR initiatives across one or more functional areas. Providing expert advice on complex people matters, underpinned by legislation, policy and best practice. Building inclusive, high performing teams and supporting capability development and wellbeing. Managing risk and providing assurance on compliance with legislative, policy and financial frameworks. Contributing to election preparedness and delivery activities in line with AEC election readiness frameworks. Functional areas may include: Workplace and employee relations. Recruitment and employment programs. Workforce planning, reporting and analytics. Capability and talent management. Payroll and HR operations. Work health and safety (including psychosocial wellbeing). Health, compensation and rehabilitation case management. Broad HR expertise and experience leading complex or multiple HR functions. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders. Strategic thinking and the ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities and tight timeframes. Relevant tertiary qualifications or a minimum of five years experience in HR. Familiarity with Commonwealth governance and resource management frameworks. AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
