Overview The successful applicant will join a mental health service providing specialist care across a range of settings, including high-security inpatient units, secure rehabilitation, extended treatment programs, prison-based services, and statewide initiatives for individuals with intellectual disability.In this role, the Consultant Psychiatrist will provide senior medical leadership and expert psychiatric care within a secure forensic mental health environment, primarily based in a high-security inpatient setting. The position offers clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of safe, coordinated, and high-quality mental health care. Key responsibilities include psychiatric assessment and treatment, clinical decision-making, risk management, and contribution to effective clinical governance.The Consultant Psychiatrist will also support workforce development through supervision and education, collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure continuity of care, and promote evidence-based, recovery-oriented practice within a secure setting.About the location The Brisbane region is increasingly recognised as an ideal location for medical specialists seeking both professional opportunity and an exceptional quality of life.
