The AIN is only permitted to perform duties listed in the AIN duties document.The PositionGeneral hygiene including showering, washing, bed baths, dressing and undressingAssist patients to the toilet or commodeProvide and position bed pans and urinary bottles; empty, measures, record and report urine output. Record and report bowel motionsApply and change continence aids & pads, apply barrier creamsAssist with mobilising patients, transfers, sitting out of bed. Use manual handling equipment such as hoists & aids. Assist patients to use mobility aidsEnsure patient nutrition requirements are met, including assisting with menu selection and orderingAssist with patient meal & table set up, cutting up food, opening packages, safe positioning to facilitate eating, assisting with feeding, and provision of fluids (patients with fluid restrictions, dysphagia, modified diet/fluids or nil orally, as explicitly directed by RN/RM and only if satisfying conditions outlined above)Record food and/ or fluid intake where applicable, including accurate documentation of fluid balance chartCollect and distribute meals, drinks and refreshments and refills water jugs (outside of food service times/ routine drink rounds)Provide patient companionship, surveillance and escorts patients (excluding patients with oxygen and intravenous therapy)Apply practical interventions and diversional therapy for cognitive impairment or behavioural problemsObservations. Take, record and report to RN/RMTransport & escort patients to all departments for discharge, via any mode of transport (including bed and wheelchair), excluding patients with oxygen and intravenous therapyTransport equipment, supplies, specimens, blood between departments as per policyMaintain tidy patient rooms & areas. Makes beds & trolleysAssist with the tidiness and cleanliness of the department environment including pantry, nurses'' station, corridors, utility rooms and storage areasApplications will be considered for vacancies as they arise across various wards over the next 6 months.Working within a team environment you will have the ability to demonstrate competence and perform the skills contained within the Statement of Duties. Well-developed communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with knowledge of principles of safe manual handling, commitment to Quality Improvement and Infection Control standards is essential to the role.To succeed you will have active enrolment in, and successful completion of at least 12 months of an NMBA approved Bachelor of Nursing &/or Midwifery OR Diploma of Nursing Program or Successful completion of the nationally recognised qualification, Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Acute Care).You will have a willingness to accept feedback on performance and development from Registered Nurse/Midwife and work towards achieving identified learning goals.
