Main Responsibilities What you will do: Financial Operations & Compliance Own end-to-end core finance operations, overseeing the month-end process including general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L production. Manage cashflow forecasting, accounts receivable, and the collections process. Lead payment scheduling, prioritisation, and execution based on due dates and cash flow, including foreign currency payments and conversions. Ensure adherence to all statutory obligations (GST, PAYG, Superannuation, payroll laws, ASIC/ATO reporting) and submit taxation returns (BAS, FBT). Liaise closely with external tax accountants, banks, and overseas key personnel. Commercial & Project Finance Provide oversight of project financial setup, lifecycle management, and billing progress. Oversee timesheet governance, utilisation tracking, and maintain data accuracy in operating resource management tools for forecasting. Lead monthly invoice planning, generation, and quality control in coordination with our Sales and Account Management teams. Provide actionable financial commentary and advice to the management team regarding initiatives to improve overall financial performance. Leadership & Systems Manage, mentor, and develop qualified accountants and junior team members. Implement and continuously improve systems and process effectiveness (e.g., Xero, WorkflowMax) to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Supervise payroll processing and HR compliance, resolving discrepancies promptly to maintain employee trust. What We Are Looking For 8+ years of accounting or finance experience, with prior success as a Finance Manager, Lead, or Senior Individual Contributor. You are comfortable wearing both strategic and operational hats, and prior team leadership experience is a strong plus. Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (CA/CPA qualifications are highly regarded). Strong knowledge of month-end close, corporate tax compliance, GST, and financial reporting standard (e.g. IFRS or equivalent)s. Experience operating within a fast-paced SME or professional services environment, specifically handling project-based billing and timesheet governance. A proven track record of setting up or improving finance processes, systems, and SOPs in a fast-paced, growing business. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with non-finance leaders.
