We are seeking an experienced Director, Shutdown Planning to lead our Africa Australia Pacific (AAP) regional shutdown planning capability and drive bestinclass outcomes across our assets. This is a senior peopleleader role where you will shape strategy, optimise shutdown performance and embed a consistent shutdown management framework that balances cost, risk and downtime. Your Impact As Director, Shutdown Planning, you will lead a regional team of shutdown planning experts and work closely with site, asset management and operational leaders to ensure shutdowns are planned and executed safely, efficiently and in alignment with longterm asset strategies. You will be accountable for the endtoend shutdown planning lifecycle from riskbased planning through to realtime execution support and postshutdown performance reviews while continuously improving capability, systems and outcomes across the business. Key Responsibilities Lead the development of comprehensive plans for major and minor shutdowns, clearly defining risks, drivers, scope and duration Coordinate shutdown activities across multiple sites, including resourcing, scheduling and task management Embed audit findings and lessons learned into shutdown planning and execution to continuously improve performance Ensure shutdown plans align with site roadmaps and asset management strategies Track and support shutdown execution in real time, addressing schedule deviations as they arise Lead postshutdown reviews to diagnose performance, capture learnings and drive improvement initiatives Build capability through training, coaching and development of shutdown planning teams Engage and communicate effectively with senior leaders, site teams, supply chain partners and external contractors Monitor performance through shutdown planning metrics and drive optimisation initiatives Leadership & team impact You will be a visible, inclusive leader who fosters a safe and collaborative environment where teams are empowered to raise issues, contribute ideas and continuously improve. What You Will Bring Extensive experience planning and delivering complex fixedplant shutdowns or largescale maintenance/capital projects Strong knowledge of shutdown management frameworks, risk management and scheduling methodologies Proven experience leading teams in complex, operational environments The ability to interpret data, recognise systemwide impacts and make sound, riskbased decisions Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels A background in engineering, project management or a related discipline (formal qualifications advantageous) High proficiency in performance monitoring, audit integration and continuous improvement practices Advanced capability with MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Your work environment This permanent position will be offered on a flexible work arrangement based out of Newmonts Perth office in Subiaco or Brisbane. Applicants living in another Australian capital city location or residing near any Newmont AAP Hubs will be considered if the ideal candidate.
