The roleAs part of our systems delivery group, the Technical Officer will be responsible for inhouse production, maintenance and support activities in a workshop environment, including testing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading a wide range of electronic, electrical and electromechanical equipment and onsite test facilities relating to Saab products.Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9day fortnight and parttime (0.8FTE minimum) will be considered for this role.Further, the successful candidate will:Work with the Workshop Team Leader to ensure local technical services are delivered effectively and to the required outcome.Ensure all specific procedures are maintained and followed by anyone using the workshop.Support the Workshop Team Leader to ensure the work environment is clean and safe for everyone performing work or visiting the area.Provide support to other Technicians (including subcontractors) that are working in the SA Workshop on Saab products.Conduct the hardware build, maintenance, support and upgrade work carried out in the Saab workshop and test sites.Support the design, prototyping, test and undertake installation of new Saab products and ensure they are correctly built.About YouYour skills and experience will include:CertificateIV in Electronics and Communications or related discipline (Essential) and relevant experience in manufacturing, maintenance, diagnosis, repair.Diploma of Electronics and Communications Engineering (Desirable).Proven knowledge of electronic and electromechanical components.Demonstrable technical workshop skills (manufacture, maintenance, repairs, modifications, installations, settowork etc.).Sound knowledge of safety practices related to electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment, especially electrical safety and ESD prevention.Ability to read and understand basic circuit and block diagrams and follow the instructions contained in technical manuals and test procedures.Circuit and wiring fault finding in PC and industrial computing systems.As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
