All locations considered Permanent Position Salary from $127,641 + 15.4% superannuation Applications close at 11:59pm AEDT, Monday 6 April The team The Superannuation and Life Insurance team is primarily responsible for ASIC''s role in the regulation and supervision of the superannuation and life insurance sectors. The team undertakes proactive engagement with, and monitoring of, regulated entities and the sector overall. The team coordinates and provides strategic direction, industry knowledge and technical expertise for ASIC''s work in these sectors. It conducts analysis, research, proactive supervision, monitoring and engagement to achieve appropriate regulatory outcomes. The role As a Lawyer/Analyst, you will play a senior role in identifying, assessing and actioning regulatory issues across the superannuation and life insurance sectors. You will undertake complex, riskbased supervision activities, exercise sound regulatory judgement, and contribute to broader ASIC initiatives and crossteam projects. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, manage competing priorities, and provide high quality analysis and advice to senior stakeholders, while supporting ASIC''s regulatory objectives and consumer protection mandate. You Will Lead and undertake riskbased supervision and surveillance activities, including complex reviews and monitoring across the sector. Identify, assess and analyse regulatory harms, including determining root causes and potential consumer impacts using qualitative and quantitative data. Contribute to and lead thematic reviews and sectorwide projects, developing appropriate regulatory responses and interventions. Assess and make recommendations on applications for relief, applying legislation, policy and precedent, and preparing high quality legal and regulatory instruments. Prepare clear, wellreasoned briefings, reports, submissions and advice for senior management, Commission and external stakeholders. Support policy and law reform activities, including contributing to the development or amendment of regulatory guidance. Build and manage productive relationships with industry, government and internal stakeholders, supporting effective regulatory outcomes. Work collaboratively across ASIC, including with enforcement and compliance teams, to deliver coordinated and impactful regulatory action. Maintain strong awareness of ASIC''s regulatory framework, relevant legislation and emerging domestic and international developments. About You You are a highly capable regulatory professional with strong analytical skills, able to navigate complex and ambiguous issues and apply sound regulatory judgement. You are confident engaging with senior stakeholders, comfortable challenging assumptions, and committed to delivering outcomes that improve consumer protection and market integrity. You Will Also Have A relevant tertiary qualification. For the Lawyer role: admission as a legal practitioner in Australia and eligibility to hold a practising certificate. Legal practice experience in superannuation, financial services regulation or a related regulatory environment would be desirable. Solid experience in regulation, public policy, financial services law or a related environment. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation and policy, including the Corporations Act and SIS Act (or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge). Strong experience analysing complex information and data to support evidencebased regulatory decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience tailoring advice for different audiences.
