Corporate Governance Specialist Location: Hervey Bay Contract: Temporary - to 30 September 2026 Stream: A Level 6 - $100,017 plus superannuation Benefits: 9day fortnight, Fulltime or Parttime hours considered At Fraser Coast Regional Council our people are our most important asset and central to achieving our purpose of Building Better Communities Together. As the Corporate Governance Specialist, you will be at the centre of Councils Governance Framework Uplift Program a major piece of work that will reshape our policy suite, strengthen accountability, uplift organisational capability and prepare Council for new legislative obligations. This is a rare chance to influence how governance is done across an entire organisation. What Your Day Will Look Like Coordinate and deliver governance projects, work packages and improvement initiatives, monitoring scope, timelines and risks to achieve agreed outcomes. Develop, review and implement operational policies, procedures and governance tools that align with legislation and Council frameworks. Support corporate and operational planning and reporting cycles by preparing inputs, tracking actions and consolidating information for Executive and Council reporting. Provide specialist governance advice, including preparing reports and briefing notes, guiding employees on governance requirements and contributing to training and capabilitybuilding activities. Undertake research and analysis to interpret legislation and policy, develop practical procedures and templates, and build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including legal advisors. What Youll Need For Success Ability to interpret and apply legislation and Council policies. Demonstrated experience coordinating projects and delivering outcomes within time and budget parameters. Strong written communication skills, including preparing concise reports, briefing notes and procedures. Sound judgement, initiative and the ability to work under limited direction. Highlevel interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across business units and provide guidance to others. Valid Class C or CA driver licence. Whats Nice To Have Diploma (AQF Level 5 or higher) in governance, law, public policy, business or a related discipline. Experience in local government governance, including corporate planning and Council meeting processes. Experience developing and delivering training or capabilitybuilding resources. Familiarity with records and information management systems (e.g., HPE Content Manager/eDOCS).
