Solicitor - Employment Law / Litigation (1 - 2 years PAE) Location: Adelaide CBD (Corner of King William & Waymouth) Start Date: ASAP (flexible for the right person) Reports to: Tom Earls, Partner About Us Fair Work Lawyers was founded by two lawyers who were fed up with the politics, hierarchy and obsession with billable hours that define much of the legal profession. So, they created a firm where great lawyers could do great work without that noise. Were a team of seven, with a balance of experience and a healthy amount of humour. We dont take ourselves too seriously, but we take the law seriously. Youll find us working hard on complex matters, but also happy to head to the pub and talk shop (or not). Were outcome focused, not inputobsessed and we dont count billable hours for the sake of it. Fair Work Lawyers is recognised in Doyles Guide for its expertise in workplace health and safety and industrial relations. The Opportunity Were looking for a Lawyer (12 years PAE) to join our growing team, with a focus on employment law and litigation. Youll get handson experience and real responsibility from day one including running files (with support), appearing in tribunals and courts and advising SME clients across a range of sectors. This role is perfect for someone currently in a mixed or generalist practice who wants to narrow their focus, do real work (not doc review) and be mentored by genuinely invested senior lawyers. What Youll Do Advise employer clients on employment law matters (unfair dismissal, enterprise bargaining, general protections, award compliance and more). Appear in the Fair Work Commission and other courts/tribunals (with support where needed). Work across a mix of matters (mostly employment, but with some exposure to contractual / commercial disputes, construction law and occasionally outside the square). Draft advice, prepare pleadings and correspondence, and manage files autonomously (while still learning and growing). Participate in regular performance catchups every 6 months, where bonuses are discussed based on contribution, not billables. What Youll Get Genuine career progression investment from the business and a strong bonus scheme. Your own private office in a prime CBD location, opposite the tram stop. Regular mentorship directly from the cofounders and partners, not just the occasional coffee catchup. Broad and deep experience across litigation and advisory matters, with direct client contact. The chance to be part of a closeknit team that values best practice processes and good people. The chance to work with a strong base of longterm clients, and the opportunity to grow and develop your practice in the directions and areas you want to. What Were Looking For 12 years postadmission experience (PAE). Someone whos stepped up from pure junior work and wants more autonomy and responsibility. Comfortable drafting their own work, managing their own files, and doing their own admin (we use LEAP and Microsoft Office). A lawyer who is curious, thoughtful, objective and commercially aware, not driven by politics or posturing. Strong academic performance is valued. Our Clients We act exclusively for employers ranging from ASX-listed companies to family businesses. Most are in SA and across all sectors. Our firm manages a large, varied caseload (currently 900+ open advice files), so youll see more in a month than some junior lawyers see in a year. Next Steps Our Recruitment Process Is Simple First interview with EGM Recruitment. Interview with Fair Work Lawyers. Second client interview with a Partner and another member of the team. Compliance checks, reference checks & offer. If youre interested, please contact Erin from EGM Recruitment [email protected] #J-18808-Ljbffr
