Position Overview The City of Bellaire is conducting a national search for an accomplished and principled law enforcement executive to serve as its next Chief of Police. This is a distinctive opportunity to lead a respected, fullservice municipal police department within a highly engaged residential community located in the heart of the Houston metropolitan area. Known as The City of Homes, Bellaire is a city of approximately 17,828 residents within 3.6 square miles, entirely surrounded by Houston. The community places a premium on professionalism, visibility, transparency, and strong relationships between the Police Department and those it serves. The Bellaire Police Department operates with an adopted FY 2026 budget of approximately $9.3 million, supporting 43 sworn officers and 16 professional staff. The Department blends neighborhoodfocused policing with the realities of an urbanadjacent environment, emphasizing watchbased patrol operations supported by investigative, traffic, administrative, and community outreach functions. Operating under a CouncilManager form of government, the Police Chief reports directly to the City Manager and serves as a key member of the executive leadership team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate seasoned judgment, clear communication, operational depth, and a commitment to accountability and professional standards. The next Chief must preserve the Departments proactive culture while strengthening trust with residents, City leadership, and regional partners. Compensation and Benefits This atwill executive position offers a salary of up to $206,585, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The City provides a comprehensive benefits package, including participation in TMRS with a 2:1 City match, and Texas does not impose a state income tax.
