Whilst the Office of the Valuer-General (OVG) Directorate is part of DHUD, we are an independent Office with our own goals and mission - to deliver fair and equitable statutory valuations for all properties in the State. We are primarily staffed with specialist property valuers and support staff and are responsible and accountable for the State''s Land Valuation System and ensuring that the functions undertaken by the Service Provider, Land Services SA (LSSA), in performing statutory valuations across the State are compliant and effectively administered in accordance with the Valuation of Land Act 1971 and the Land Services Agreement. The OVG also supports government decision making through the provision of professional valuation advice and strategic services. This is a rare opportunity to join the Valuer-General''s leadership team, providing strategic leadership, expert advice and responsibility for the OVG''s Coordination and Statutory valuation teams. With management and oversight of the valuation grievance processes, stakeholder management and customer service, this role works closely with its teams, other OVG leaders and our Service Provider of valuation services. To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following areas (refer Essential criteria in the Role Statement for more details): Effective leadership and management experience Knowledge of valuation principles, practices and methodologies and expertise in statutory valuations including adherence to objectivity and fairness. Strategic planning, business improvement and providing professional consultancy services and advice to influence decisions that significantly impact the State and/or industry. Provision of statutory advice and services including the management of grievance processes Leading negotiations and engaging and communicating with clients and stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes. Excellent organisational skills including development, implementation and ongoing improvement of processes and organisation. Applicants must be eligible to work in Australia. Essential Qualifications and Licences To be eligible you must: Be qualified as a Valuer in accordance with the Land Valuers Act 1994 and Land Valuers Regulations 2024; Be eligible for or have a current Associate or Fellow level Membership of the Australian Property Institute as a Certified Practising Valuer (CPV). Have practised as a land valuer (whether in the service of the Government or privately) for a period (whether continuous or aggregate) of at least 5 years; and Have a current Driver''s Licence. Special Conditions Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years. Some out of hours and weekend work may be required. Some intra/interstate travel may be required. Remuneration: PO5 - $124,449 min - $130,253 max.
