The Opportunity An opportunity exists for an experienced lawyer to join our inhouse Legal Team on a parttime basis (approximately three days per week). The successful candidate will work within a centralised management team that provides corporate and strategic services to the Smile Solutions Group dental practices, together with a number of associated healthcare and startup ventures. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership in a commercial, fastmoving healthcare environment, contributing across a wide range of legal and strategic matters. We are seeking a commercially minded legal professional who enjoys variety, autonomy and working closely with decisionmakers. The role would suit a senior associate or experienced inhouse lawyer seeking a longterm, flexible position that remains professionally engaging and intellectually stimulating, without the demands of a traditional fulltime legal role. The position reports directly to the Managing Director and operates with a high degree of trust and autonomy, while being supported by external legal advisors where specialist input is required. The role also has the support of a junior member of the legal team (currently a fulltime law student). Key Responsibilities Oversee and continue to develop the organisations internal legal function Advise across a broad range of areas including health law and regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, property and leasing, intellectual property, employment law, privacy, consumer law and general corporate matters Draft, review and assist with negotiation of agreements with commercial partners and stakeholders Develop and maintain template documentation including employment agreements, policies and procedures, property leases and commercial terms and conditions Work collaboratively with the Clinical Manager and Practice Managers to strengthen operational processes and compliance frameworks Provide clear and practical guidance to senior management on legal and regulatory requirements Support the Managing Director on strategic initiatives, projects and commercial negotiations Manage relationships with external legal advisors where specialist expertise is required Provide pragmatic, commercially focussed legal advice across the organisation About You Admission to practise law in Australia with an unrestricted practising certificate Approximately 48+ years postadmission experience in private practice or inhouse (or equivalent experience) Broad commercial legal capability with the confidence to manage matters across multiple areas of law Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills The ability to exercise sound judgement and provide practical, solutionsfocused advice Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities A collaborative and approachable working style, with the ability to engage effectively across different areas of the business A pragmatic and commercially oriented mindset The Role This is a parttime position, ideally suited to a candidate available to work approximately three days per week, with flexibility around how those days are structured.
