As our Manager, Intellectual Property Commercialisation, youll lead Swinburnes IP portfolio end-to-end, driving invention intake and due diligence, guiding protection strategies and patent prosecution, and forging high-value licensing and spin-out pathways with external partners. Youll be the go-to expert for inventors and research leaders, building awareness of IP best practice and commercialisation pathways across the university, specifically within Health and Medtech domains. In this role you will: Oversee the full IP pipeline - from disclosure and filings to renewals, while maintaining a secure, accessible portfolio. Lead commercialisation deals: negotiate royalties, prepare investor materials, and assess market value. Drive investable ventures by partnering with Swinburne Ventures and strategic collaborators. Manage budgets, forecast costs, and track IP revenues and distributions. About You To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities. Demonstrated and relevant commercial/legal experience (preferably in the private sector), with specific practical involvement in technology innovation and commercialisation across Health and MedTech, including medical devices and life sciences. Understanding of processes for intellectual property capture and protection across key international jurisdictions (especially the countries parties to major treaties and harmonisation initiatives). Ability to work autonomously and in a team- environment, to develop and implement management processes and follow through on tasks to completion with minimal supervision. Knowledge of government funding programs (at both state and federal levels) available to facilitate IP commercialisation, industry development and collaboration between industry and research organisations. (preferable) Understanding of contract research, intellectual property capture and commercialisation processes as conducted in Australian Universities. (preferable) Qualifications Tertiary qualifications, preferably in law and/or a relevant scientific discipline. Additional intellectual property, patent attorney, business or management qualifications/experience would be highly regarded.
