This will give you the skills and knowledge to support the safety and security of our correctional centres, staff, visitors and prisoners.*A breakdown of salary during training is as follows:First 8 week block training salary of $62,167 plus 12% superannuation applies ($69,627 remuneration package)9 -11-week period (shadow) $97,478 remuneration package inclusive of Salary ($62,167) plus 40% consolidated allowance ($24,867), plus 12% superannuation applies.After the 11-week training period - $108,308 remuneration package inclusive of Salary ($69,074) plus 40% consolidated allowance ($26,825) plus 12% superannuation appliesDuring the 12 month training program you will be required to successfully complete the nationally accredited qualification CSC30122 Certificate III in Correctional Practice and satisfactorily complete performance appraisals and assessments (RTO Number 1074). All costs are covered for the Certificate III in Correctional Practice by DoC.Working alongside a dedicated team of professionals you will ensure the safe, secure and humane management of prisoners and contribute to creating an environment that better supports and enables prisoners to successfully reintegrate back into the community. Your key duties include; supervising, monitoring and managing prisoners; employing appropriate security measures to ensure the safety of prisoners; undertaking escorts and responding to emergencies.Completion of the 12 month training program may result in an offer of ongoing (permanent) employment. To be eligible for ongoing employment you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or Australian permanent resident. Holders of an appropriate valid Australian visa with full work rights may be considered for fixed period contracts whilst they await the outcome of their visa application. Being of good character with strong communication and organisational skills, a good level of fitness and the proven ability to work in a cross cultural environment are essential.A current First Aid Certificate and a Northern Territory C class drivers license with the ability to drive a manual vehicle is required prior to commencement.In return, you will be rewarded with a competitive salary package, 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, flexible working conditions, uniforms, wellness allowance and opportunity for paid overtime. An additional one week recreational leave will be granted for working 10 Sundays or more during a calendar year.An attraction and retention allowance of $10,000 for Alice Springs is paid at $2500 after 3 months, a further $2500 after 6 months and $5000 paid at 12 months. An ongoing retention allowance for Alice Springs with a $5000 lump sum payment after every completed 12 months of continuous service.This is a great time to consider a move to the Northern Territory.
