About us Yued Aboriginal Corporation represents the Traditional Owners of the Yued region of the southwest of Western Australia. We work to manage native title benefits, while also advancing and strengthening Noongar culture, language, heritage, and society. The Yued region refers to the Noongar language or dialectal group north of Perth, in an area approximately 115,000 Sq Km. The opportunity The Noongar Land Estate (NLE), a pivotal component of the Southwest Native Title Settlement, will oversee a substantial land reserve, offering up to 3000,000 hectares of protected land and an additional 20,000 hectares of freehold lands for the betterment of Noongar communities. The NLE stands to unlock remarkable prospects for sustainable economic, social, and cultural growth. We offer Salary range between $127,941 - $138,382 per annum depending on skills/experience, + superannuation. Salary packaging (up to $15,899 a year, + meal/entertainment benefit of $2,650 a year). 5 weeks annual leave per year Christmas shut down period credited as additional leave. The role The Manager, Lands and Environment is responsible for leading and coordinating land management, cultural heritage protection, and environmental conservation programs across the organisations estate and areas of cultural responsibility. Location West Perth Hours Permanent, Full time You will: Land and Natural Resource Management Develop, implement, and monitor land management strategies and operational plans Develop, submit and, where successful, implement and acquit grant applications Oversee conservation and rehabilitation projects Coordinate ranger or field-based environmental programs Monitor environmental outcomes and maintain project reporting systems. Manage the land and environment portfolio pursuant to the ILUA and subsidiary Agreements concerning Land acceptance, access, development, and management and Aboriginal Heritage Act (1972) compliance Lead the development and implementation of a framework and procedures which will enable the Corporation to effectively consider, and process heritage matters and land offers from the Trustee, development proponents and other strategic landholders. Support the Corporation to build and/or access an effective land management IT system to support the Land and Heritage Management Portfolio Identify and progress land-based opportunities for cultural and economic development Develop and implement land and cultural heritage management plans, source funds for the holding costs of land, leases and maintain the Title Protection Criteria Management of all land and heritage access matters including obligations under the ILUA, the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 and other relevant legislation/settlement documents Environmental Compliance and Governance Ensure organisational compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and regulatory obligations Prepare reports required by funding bodies, regulators, and stakeholders Develop and maintain environmental policies, procedures, and management frameworks Monitor risks associated with land use and environmental management Facilitate the development and implementation of a Strategic Land Plan and land management teams Selection Criteria: Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental management, natural resource management, or related discipline Demonstrated experience managing ranger programs or on-Country initiatives. Demonstrated experience in land and environmental program management Demonstrated experience managing government or grant-funded programs. Experience working with Aboriginal communities and Traditional Owners Demonstrated leadership and staff supervision experience Knowledge of environmental and heritage legislation Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills Knowledge of the Western Australian statutory regime for land administration, planning and development, and conservation. Knowledge of Indigenous land management frameworks. Training or experience in fire management or conservation land practices.
