About the Role The Women''s Safe Night Space has been developed by Ruah Community Services and this exciting innovative program requires dynamic and enthusiastic team members to work alongside the established and wellfunctioning Ruah Centre which has been supporting rough sleepers for over 60years. The Ruah Safe Night Space has been developed to respond to the urgent need for a safe and culturally secure night space for women sleeping rough in Perth. This may include chronically streetpresent women (rough sleepers), women escaping family and domestic violence who would otherwise face being forced onto the streets, and women awaiting placement in transitional or longterm accommodation. We are seeking a parttime Engagement Worker to work in our Safe Night Space team. The successful candidate will work on a 4 on 4 off roster between the hours of 11:30pm 07:00am. This position involves shift work, working night shifts, weekends and public holidays, with relevant penalty rates applying. It is a parttime maximumterm contract, working 45.6 hours per fortnight, with a maximum term date of 30June2026. What were looking for Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision, mission, core values and the guiding principles of the organization. Completion of a relevant qualification (certificateIII/IV), and/or relevant work experience (at least 2years), or degree qualification. Ability to engage with individuals within different levels of needs and build and maintain a professional relationship. A high level of understanding of the Housing First principles and how they relate to people experiencing homelessness in their transition to permanent, longterm housing. Demonstrated understanding and experience working with issues facing people who experience chaotic life circumstances such as homelessness, AOD use, family and domestic violence and mental health issues. Relevant experience and demonstrated skill in providing support services to people experiencing disadvantage. Ability to work independently and contribute to the functioning of the team. Ability to model positive behaviours, emotional maturity, coping skills and resilience. What do we offer?
