This role is open to candidates in Sydney (only) or open to relocating to Sydney who is open to working 2-3 days per week in the officeWork from office in Sydney CBD, 2-3 days per week in the office (hybrid working)No overseas candidates, open to sponsoring local candidates with the right experienceSalary: $120,000-$150,000 base + super maximum + bonusesAbout the RoleWe''re looking for a Backend Support Engineer to join our team and help us maintain the performance, reliability, and quality of our core products. You''ll play a key role in identifying and resolving backend issues, supporting our customer service team with technical queries, and helping build long-term solutions to minimize future incidents.This is a hands-on technical role where your problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset will have a direct impact on both our customers and internal teams. You''ll be part of a supportive and innovative engineering environment with plenty of room for personal and professional development.Your Responsibilities:-Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve backend issues in production and staging environmentsPartner with customer support to diagnose and resolve user-reported bugsContinuously improve existing backend systems to enhance speed, reliability, and scalabilityAnalyze recurring issues and develop long-term fixes to prevent repeat occurrencesMonitor logs, system health, and performance indicators to proactively detect problemsDocument common issues, fixes, and backend workflows for internal useCollaborate with developers to ensure smooth delivery of new features and updatesEffectively manage your own work, communicate progress, and support your teamGo (Golang) microservices with gRPCGraphQL APIsDatadog for monitoring and observabilityReact Native and React for front-end interfacesWhat We''re Looking For:-While experience with our specific tools is ideal, we know great engineers can adapt quickly. If you''re a skilled backend support engineer (developer) with a passion for problem-solving, we''d love to hear from you.Our ideal candidate will have:-3+ years of experience in backend development or in a support-focused engineering roleFamiliarity with some of the technologies in our stack (or similar)Experience with monitoring and observability toolsDevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience is a bonusStrong analytical and debugging skillsAbility to take initiative, manage time well, and work independentlyExcellent communication and team collaboration skillsPlease Note:-This position is only open to candidates currently residing in Australia.
