3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicantsDirect message the job poster from IT Alliance AustraliaOne of our federal government clients seeking to engage a Gateway Engineer at Canberra location.Location of work: CanberraLength of contract: 12 monthsContract extensions: 24 months extension (two extensions of twelve months each)Security clearance: Must have Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearanceJob detailsInfrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services. The Senior Gateway Engineer uses their in-depth knowledge of specific ICT Platforms to provide expert advice on the management and maintenance of those platforms. They work closely with key third party suppliers to ensure the provision of a robust gateway infrastructure capability for the business, and liaise with architecture and shared services areas to ensure the security of the day-to-day technical operations. Senior Gateway Engineers exercise a considerable degree of independence, with decision-making substantially dependent on their high-level judgement and consideration of wider agency implications, with work being performed under the general guidance of senior staff.Key duties and responsibilitiesDuties may include some or all the following but not limited to:Design/evaluate/implement infrastructure requirements to meet future infrastructure demandProvide expert technical support for project build, test and solution deployment activitiesPrepare, review and maintain documentation which may include design documentation, implementation plans, test plans, and support proceduresAssist in the development and implementation of strategies, operational policy and procedures and change initiativesParticipate in change management process and communicate the end-to-end implications of configuration changesProvide detailed, specialist technical advice, including strategic advice to the senior executiveProactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert, and aid and mentorship to less experienced colleaguesUndertake research on emerging technologies and provide recommendations on product suitability for the agencyEngage and partner with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capabilityAttend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes and share informationEncourage innovation, continuous improvement and manage and support change and influence and contribute to ICT strategy resolving conflicts as neededManage the operation of backup, high availability and disaster recovery solutions for IT systemsManage the regular maintenance of patches and support packages for all technical layersManage the administration and operation of the Gateway network kitKnowledge/Qualifications:At least five (5) years demonstrated experience in the design, management and maintenance of internet gateway and/or large scale data centre networking environment.Demonstrated experience and technical proficiency in the design of services utilising F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems.Demonstrated experience in the design and deployment of network infrastructure including Cisco Data centre technologies like Cisco ACI, Cisco Routers, nexus switches, routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRPDemonstrated experience with and/or detailed understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and IPS SolutionsDemonstrated experience in the design and implementation of VPN technologies, email and DNS (Infoblox) Solutions.Demonstrated experience in the design and integration of hybrid and public cloud services.Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of system architecture and design documentation.Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight.Technical skillsCisco Data centre technologies like Cisco ACI, Cisco Routers, nexus switches; routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP; Palo Alto firewalls and IPS Solutions; VPN technologies, email and DNS (Infoblox) Solutions; hybrid and public cloud services1.
