Vacancy for Metadata Specialist at University of CambridgeWe are seeking a Metadata Specialist to join our team at Cambridge University Libraries as part of an exciting five-year Digital Preservation Programme.The successful candidate will be based at the main University Library and will play a crucial role in delivering the digital preservation service, contributing to the wider Digital Transformation Programme, and supporting the Library''s vast and diverse collections of digital materials.The Digital Preservation Programme aims to establish a cloud-native and open-source digital repository and digital preservation system. The scope of this work includes implementing additional tools for deposit, search, discovery, access, use, and re-use of digital materials.The digital preservation service will support digital collection materials from acquisition to access, ensuring that current and future users can access and use these materials of cultural and historic importance.The Metadata Specialist will focus on the following activities:Analysing and evaluating the existing flow of metadata for digital collection materialsUndertaking clean-up, transformation, optimisation, and/or enrichment of metadata in library systemsInforming how metadata for digital collection materials will be consumed by systems implemented within the programmePromoting and supporting the use of metadata for digital collection materials in its creation, enrichment, analysis, and provision of management informationContributing to the development of local metadata standards and policies, developing and implementing workflows, and monitoring compliance with agreed metadata standardsThe ideal candidate will have experience working with metadata and digital preservation, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Cambridge University Libraries are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
