You will lead the planning and execution of strategic communications activities to increase political and media attention in order to accelerate action in the real world.In this role, you will work with a wide network of partners to create and engage in media opportunities in major economies and build strategic relationships with leaders and stakeholders across industry, policy, and media spheres. You will devise and deliver projects, providing strategic advice, communications and outreach support to partners. You will promote public debate and maintain trusted relationships with key journalists and stakeholders.Working under the Industrial Decarbonisation Director, you will thrive as part of a team of dedicated professionals.We are looking for a highly driven, proactive person with the discipline and motivation to independently explore innovative methods for problemsolving, armed with creativity and experience, and the determination to see things through to completion.How you''ll contributeStrategy & PlanningContribute to the formulation of a global steel strategy with a focus on sustainably boosting solar & wind growth for electrification and green hydrogen as well as circularity to reduce, reuse and recycle materials;Design flexible approaches that respond to new opportunities and external challenges;Implement the plans with key partners to target priority audiences in order to secure policy changes.Implementation & ManagementExecute strategic communications activities aligned with objectives, design and disseminate narratives and messages;Make appropriate judgments on timing and methods for intervening in public and media debates, seizing opportunities as they arise & working closely with media lead;Collaborate with global networks, adapting audiencespecific content;Collaborate with external partners and manage project progress;Manage project budgets, identify funding needs, and contribute to fundraising;Participate in international conferences and calls.Relationship Building, Maintenance & CollaborationBuild and maintain relationships with key partner organizations and stakeholders, providing strategic advice and support;Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, experts and media;Identify, develop, and build networks of spokespeople and communicators;Collaborate with digital and media outreach teams across timezones.Information Gathering & AnalysisGather and analyze information on domestic and international steel policies;Monitor political and media debates to identify communications opportunities;Serve as a source of information for partner organizations and global networks;Commission necessary research and analysis.Reporting & EvaluationMonitor, evaluate, and report on outcomes.Other duties necessary to achieve objectives.Our ideal candidate hasEssential qualities we''re looking for:Ability to proactively develop strategies and approaches including as circumstances change, staying flexible while maintaining focus on outcomes;Ability to understand complex policies and aim for the best possible outcomes;Personal commitment to climate change as an urgent mission, with the drive and determination to see projects through to completion;Strong skills in English. Deep cultural understanding of at least one of these countries;Australiabased: East Asian language skills are highly valued; however, we would consider applicants without East Asian language skills if they demonstrate exceptional strength across the other role criteria.Brusselsbased: Fluent language skills in English plus French. Fluent German would be an additional asset but is not essential.
