The Registry was formed in 1856 to register life events in NSW accurately and securely for all time. This includes the registration of births, deaths and marriages and official changes of name and sex.This role sits within Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) the Digital and Identity Security Division in the IT & Program Delivery team.About the roleAs the Senior Product Owner you will be accountable for effective end to end management of digital products, including taking products from strategy, through to initial idea, implementation, support and continuous improvement to meet organisational and NSW Government objectives.Your day-to-dayOwns and manages the Product Backlog.Prioritizes and refines backlog items based on value, risk, and dependencies.Works closely with the business analysts, designers, development team, and business stakeholders.Facilitate Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.Helps define user stories, acceptance criteria, and success metrics.Key accountabilitiesDefine and communicate the product vision and roadmap.Create and maintain a well-prioritized product backlog.Write user stories with clear acceptance criteria.Ensure maximum value delivery within constraints (time, budget, resources).Make trade-off decisions between scope, time, and cost.Engage with stakeholders regularly to gather input and share progress.Monitor product performance and iterate based on feedback.To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:Clear and persuasive communication of ideas, goals, and product vision.Strong facilitation skills across cross-functional teams and leadership levels.Experience in balancing competing priorities under tight timelines.Comfort with metrics, KPIs, and analytics tools to assess product performance.Ability to identify and resolve product and process inefficiencies.Deep understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, etc.).Experience managing complex backlogs, roadmaps, and multi-team environments.Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of pivoting quickly.How to applyIf this role sounds like you please hit submit and include a cover letter (max 2 pages) and resume (max 5 pages) outlining how you meet the capabilities and skills required for the role.Salary Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting at 125693 base plus superannuationFor enquiries relating to recruitment please contact Thomas Ting-Shelley via [email protected] the Capability Application Tool to prepare for the recruitment process by accessing practice application and interview questions based on the focus capabilities listed in the role description.Closing Date: Wednesday 9 July 2025 at 9:59amCareers at Department of Customer ServiceA career at the Department of Customer Service (DCS) gives you the opportunity to help improve government services and be part of reform that benefits people across NSW.
