This is an opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel with retail and consumer banking expertise to join a highly regarded, values-led mutual bank at a time of strong growth, transformation and impact.Working within a respected, high-performing in-house legal team, this role offers meaningful exposure to strategic initiatives, regulatory complexity and enterprise-wide projects.This is a senior, influential role for a banking lawyer who enjoys complexity, autonomy and partnering closely with the business. Your advice will directly shape decision-making, governance and the future direction of the organisation.Role ResponsibilitiesProviding senior legal advice across retail banking, financial services, corporate and regulatory mattersAdvising on regulatory compliance including deposit-taking, consumer credit, prudential standards and industry codesMonitoring legislative and regulatory developments and advising on business impactsDrafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts and service arrangementsSupporting strategic initiatives including mergers, partnerships, new products and enterprise projectsIdentifying and managing legal risk in collaboration with risk and compliance teamsSupporting governance processes, including Board and Committee papers, resolutions and director obligationsManaging disputes and litigation matters, including engagement with external counselActing as a trusted business partner to senior leaders and stakeholders across the organisationSkills and ExperienceAdmitted solicitor with a current unrestricted Australian practising certificateStrong post-qualification experience in banking, finance or financial services lawDemonstrated expertise in retail banking regulation and regulatory frameworksProven ability to deliver clear, pragmatic and commercially sound legal advice in a complex environmentExperience supporting strategic projects, transactions and enterprise initiativesStrong stakeholder management skills and confidence engaging with senior leadersExperience within a mutual bank, customer-owned institution or regulated financial services environment highly regardedBroader in-house exposure across areas such as consumer credit, privacy, technology, employment or governance advantageousGreenfields Executive Recruitment & Search is a specialist In-House Legal, Company Secretary and Corporate Governance Executive Search & Recruitment firm.
