Lead Network Security Engineer (EL1 equivalent)We are seeking Lead Network Security Engineers to support the operation, maintenance and uplift of critical network infrastructure within the Defence environment. This role focuses on securing and hardening complex network systems that support sensitive operations. You will work onsite in Canberra as part of a collaborative technical team, providing handson engineering support and practical security advice.Key responsibilitiesPlan, implement and operate secure network services across hardware and virtual environmentsMaintain and test network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, servers and related devicesAssess network architectures and device configurations and provide recommendations to improve securityApply defenceindepth principles to network design and configurationSupport the protection of network communications against advanced threatsContribute to technical advice on hardening and defending critical systemsRequired experienceMinimum 5 years'' experience in a cyber or network security roleStrong experience implementing and maintaining secure network practicesHandson configuration of network security components (e.g. firewalls, routers, servers)Proven ability to assess network security architectures and recommend improvementsExperience securing network communications in complex environmentsEligibility requirementsAustralian citizenMust already hold NV1 security clearanceAbility to successfully complete Defence suitability assessmentsWilling to work onsite in CanberraContract detailsInitial 12month contract, with extension options40 hours per weekStart date: June 2026Please apply with current resume in Microsoft Word format only (.doc or .docx).
