Job Description

UnitingSA is seeking a reliable and handson parttime Maintenance Assistant to support the daytoday upkeep of our Aged Care facilities. This role is ideal for someone with strong general maintenance skills who takes pride in maintaining safe, clean and wellpresented environments for residents, staff and visitors. About the Role Under the direction of the Maintenance Officer, you will carry out a broad range of general maintenance duties across UnitingSA Aged Care sites. Your work will ensure facilities are maintained to agreed standards, Work Health and Safety issues are addressed promptly, and residents enjoy a comfortable, homelike environment. Youll work closely with site managers, program managers and other maintenance staff, as well as liaise with contractors and suppliers when needed. What Youll Be Doing Carry out daytoday general and preventative maintenance across buildings, grounds and equipment Maintain clean, safe, tidy and homelike environments in accordance with WHS standards Undertake painting, room turnovers, curtain handling and basic repairs as required Move, install and adjust furniture, beds, mattresses and fixed rails Ensure equipment is clean, operational and stored correctly, including routine cleaning tasks Assist with monitoring contractors on site and reporting maintenance issues Communicate effectively with managers, staff and contractors to support safety, maintenance and operational outcomes Work collaboratively within the Property Services team, showing respect and sensitivity to residents and staff About You Youre practical, organised and able to juggle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. Youre comfortable using hand and power tools, follow instructions carefully, and understand the importance of safety, accuracy and teamwork in an aged care environment. What Youll Bring Qualifications & Compliance Requirements Relevant trade or building qualification and/or equivalent handson experience Experience in a general maintenance role Sound knowledge of basic hand and power tools Strong communication and timemanagement skills Good computer skills and attention to detail Current DHS NDIS Worker Screening Check Experience Experience working within an Aged Care setting Experience with chemical management Why Join UnitingSA?
