You set your own fee structure bulk billing, mixed billing, or private billing and keep your billings less a negotiated service fee. There are no corporate mandates on what you can charge or how you practice medicine. Do you sponsor visas for international GPs? Yes. Family Doctor is an approved sponsor for Subclass 482 (Temporary Skill Shortage) and 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme) visas. We support international medical graduates through AHPRA registration, Medicare provider number applications, and relocation. See our International GPs page for the full pathway. Are there positions in DPA or Modified Monash rural locations? Yes many of our clinics are in Distribution Priority Area (DPA) locations or Modified Monash 25 regions. These positions count toward 10-year moratorium compliance for overseas-trained doctors and often attract rural incentive payments. No. Family Doctor does not use lock-in contracts, restraint clauses, or exit penalties. Most GPs sign a standard service agreement with no fixed term. You can scale your hours up or down at any time, and leave with reasonable notice. What support do you provide to new GPs? We handle billing, HR, compliance, IT, clinical accreditation, nursing support, and practice management so you can focus on patients. New GPs get onboarding with a senior doctor, full practice management software training, and access to our clinical support network across the network. Do you offer locum and casual positions? Yes. Regular locum and casual session opportunities are available across the network particularly useful for GPs wanting to test a location before committing, or experienced GPs filling specific shifts. Many Family Doctor GPs work at 2 or more clinics in the network, which is useful for variety or when patient populations span multiple suburbs. There are no additional contracts or fees for working across sites. What are the typical billings? Expected billings exceed $400 per hour for most experienced GPs, depending on patient mix, billing structure, and consulting hours. The service fee is negotiated individually and is below the corporate GP group average. Detailed billings projections are provided during confidential discussions. How long does the application process take? An initial confidential discussion happens within 48 hours of expressing interest. For Australian-trained GPs, onboarding typically takes 24 weeks from agreement to first session. International GPs should allow 39 months depending on AHPRA pathway and visa processing. What CPD and training support do you provide? Family Doctor offers over 2,000 hours of free CPD annually through internal education, peer review sessions, and external course subsidies.
