About the role Reporting to the Financial Accounting and Reporting Manager, the Financial Accountant plays a key role in handling various financial, transactional, and compliance tasks. This position is responsible for managing daily financial operations with particular emphasis on various pieces of financial reporting completed throughout the financial year. The position works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the integrity and compliance of the organisations financial records. Key responsibilities Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports Help maintain, streamline, and improve financial reporting systems and processes Assist in compilation of monthly BAS, annual FBT reporting and other reporting Assist in submission of monthly results to Department of Finance (DoF) where required Manage and support monthend and yearend close processes, including preparing and posting journals, accruals, and adjustments Reconcile general ledger accounts such as loans, cash, intercompany, accounts payable, and accounts receivable Ensure all supporting documentation is accurate, complete, and auditready Assist in ensuring that all accounting and reporting activities comply with internal controls, organisational policies, and relevant regulatory requirements Maintain updated documentation of processes and controls related to financial operations Skills and experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a similar role Significant experience in the financial services industry Strong knowledge of accounting standards and government reporting requirements Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or a related field Relevant certifications (such as Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant) Advanced skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
