The UGL Utilities team designs, constructs and maintains critical infrastructure across the water and power sectors. Ranging from wastewater treatment plants to power stations. We design and construct the following assets; power generation, transmission lines, substations, electrical distribution networks, water and waste water treatment plans and water pipelines. Opportunity As the Project Accountant, you will play a critical part in overseeing and controlling project finances, analysing key data, and delivering insightful reporting that informs proactive business decisions. This role reports to the Finance Lead and engages daily with operations, contracts, and broader Finance stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly financial reports, including cost reports, accruals, and reconciliation statements as instructed by the Finance Lead. Conduct regular cost-to-complete analyses to assess project progress against the approved budget. Identify and report on variances, providing recommendations for corrective actions when necessary. Establish, monitor, and manage the project bank account in compliance with statutory and contractual requirements. Monitor project spending, track commitments, and prepare financial forecasts. Prepare and execute claims and invoicing. Manage the debtors and creditors aging and maintain forecasted working capital. Process payments, reconcile transactions, and ensure all financial activities are accurately documented. Requirements Degree in Commerce, Accounting or related discipline. 5 years experience in broad financial roles. CPA/CA (or equivalent) qualified. (Desirable, not essential) Experience working with large ERP systems (SAP preferred). Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability. Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholdermanagement skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and maintain strong attention to detail.
