Based at Sydney Markets in Flemington, the organisation combines longterm property stewardship with the operational realities of a largescale wholesale and FMCG environment. As Sydney Markets enters its next phase of delivery and organisational maturity, an opportunity has been created for a General Counsel & Company Secretary to join the Executive Leadership Team, acting as the organisations most senior legal and governance adviser to the CEO and Board. The Role This is a senior, influential role for an experienced General Counsel who brings sound judgement, commercial pragmatism and strong governance capability. You will advise the CEO, Board and Executive on legal risk, corporate governance and decisionmaking, while owning the legal function endtoend. The role is responsible for managing and coordinating all legal work through a panel of external law firms and specialist service providers, ensuring highquality, timely and commercially sound outcomes across the organisation. The position combines strategic advisory responsibility with operational accountability and will suit a General Counsel who values breadth, influence and delivery over team size. Key Focus Areas Principal adviser on corporate law, governance, directors duties and Board processes Legal oversight of property, leasing and longterm commercial arrangements across a major precinct Managing legal risk within a complex wholesale, FMCG and supplychain operating environment Manage the company secretarial function and supporting effective Board and Committee operations Managing external advisers, claims and litigation with a focus on quality, consistency and value Uplifting legal and governance frameworks to support the organisations next stage of delivery and evolution About You Admitted lawyer with a current practising certificate Strong corporate law and governance capability, with experience advising Boards and senior executives Background in property, FMCG, wholesale, infrastructure or other assetintensive environments A pragmatic, commercial approach to managing legal risk Executive presence, discretion and sound judgement How to Apply Greenfields Executive Recruitment & Search has been retained to partner with Sydney Markets Limited on this appointment.
