This fastpaced role supports the overall functioning of the data center by focusing on maintaining and improving the facilitys critical infrastructure. Responsibilities include regularly scheduled maintenance and adhoc repairs/troubleshooting. We are recruiting for an electrical specialist to help balance the team in a missioncritical environment. A strong understanding of electrical systems and recent handson work in a data center or missioncritical environment is essential. Opportunities for leadership tasks are available; previous supervisory experience will be highly regarded. The ideal candidate is a teamfirst individual with a positive attitude, willing to go beyond a written process to contribute to the success of our operations. This role will involve collaborating with crossfunctional teams, managing vendor relationships, and serving as a first responder during incidents. Key responsibilities Completes all maintenance protocols, plans, and activities on time and accurately, including daily, weekly, and monthly site checks. May manage and oversee specialist vendors for all major works, planned repairs and maintenance to electrical and special systems, particularly electrical infrastructure. Performs minor changes to mechanical, electrical, and special systems if necessary. Ensures that sufficient spare parts are available on site for frequently used parts or parts with long lead times and maintains a critical spares register. Monitors for and responds to BMS (Building Monitoring System) alarms in accordance with engineering policies and procedures, escalating to and working with the Controls Engineering team where required. Participates in an oncall roster to act as the first responder for sites incidents, managing, resolving, and/or escalating critical issues outside of regular working hours. Oversees plumbing and fire suppression systems vendor activities. Coordinates/oversees work with vendors to ensure that maintenance activities are carried out as per Equinix requirements. Commissioning and project work that will vary in scale and scope over time. Edits and tracks the work approval process for service providers (including briefing at the start of work, control of work during the day, final review of the work carried out). Recommends changes/updates to technical files for plants and equipment in cooperation with vendors and supervisors, ensuring asbuilt documents are up to date. Creates engineering scripts (switching schedules) and undertakes safe switching practices. Ensures that all Equinix safety standards are followed, as well as quality procedures related to maintenance, including all Incident Management. Reviews processes, procedures, and systems. Communicates process deviations and proposed changes to a higher level so that relevant followup measures can be carried out. Develops training and supports training of other IBX (International Business Exchange) employees in relevant engineering topics and processes. Provides guidance and mentoring to other team members while being mentored on any areas of improvement. Qualifications, key skills, and attributes required Understanding through practical experience of critical facility operations across mechanical and controls systems, with extensive electrical experience. Trade qualification or degree certification. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systems. Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to work under pressure in timesensitive situations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively. Capability to execute tasks through effort and collaboration without formal written process. Be capable of acquiring NV1 Security Clearance.
