Job Description Develop your career by building your technical, project, consulting skills and experience as part of AECOM Sydneys Geotechnical Engineering and Tunnelling Team. You will have the opportunity of working on a wide range of projects across infrastructure, transportation, water, dams, buildings, energy and environment sectors, delivering solutions for clients throughout the State, as well as throughout Australia, New Zealand, and internationally. In this role, you will support the delivery of geotechnical investigations, analysis, and design solutions as part of a collaborative and high-performing team of engineers, engineering geologists, and technical specialists. This position offers both handson fieldwork and technical office-based work. In the early stages, the role will involve a significant field component, including the planning and execution of geotechnical investigations across a variety of sites, with opportunities for travel. As your experience develops, you will become increasingly involved in technical interpretation, geotechnical analysis, design input, and technical reporting, supporting projects from investigation through to design and construction. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being on site, understanding ground conditions, and turning field data into practical engineering solutions, while continuing to develop their technical expertise within a supportive team environment. How youll make a difference Preparing desktop studies, including data review, interpretation, and development of technical documentation. Planning, coordinating, and undertaking geotechnical site investigations, including drilling supervision, sampling, and insitu testing. Competence in soil profiling and rock core logging in accordance with AS 1726:2017 Geotechnical Site Investigation standard. Collecting and managing soil and rock samples and coordinating laboratory testing programs. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with relevant standards, guidelines, and safety procedures. Preparing associated factual and interpretive reports. Assisting with geotechnical analyses for foundations, slope stability, pavement designs, earthworks and other structures. Assisting in the preparation of bids and proposals, including scope development and preliminary cost estimation. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will have existing working experience that includes having worked on site. You will be motivated to build your technical capability and to work collaboratively in teams, both in the office and in the field. The qualities that help you thrive Bachelors degree in civil engineering or geological equivalent. Ideally, 210 years experience in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology. Willingness to undertake regular fieldwork and travel. Demonstrated competency in scoping, planning, and managing geotechnical investigations. Familiarity with software such as OpenGround / gINT, Rocscience, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W, with working knowledge of Leapfrog or similar geotechnical modelling software welcomed. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Current Class C drivers licence.
