Where You''ll Be Working The Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Unit (Brolga) is in Hornsby. What You''ll Be Doing The Wellbeing Unit at Macquarie Hospital is a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, including a CNS, dietitians, exercise physiologists, physiotherapist and speech pathologist. The Wellbeing Unit employs a model of care designed specifically to meet the need for physical health care and lifestyle interventions for people living with mental illness. The Exercise Physiologist will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, consumers and their support networks to provide specialised assessment, exercise prescription, health education and delivery of individual and group exercise services, and sport and recreational activities with the aim of improving physical and mental health, functional capacity and quality of life. The position also involves the delivery of health promotion activities and supporting the senior exercise physiologist to supervise student clinical placements. Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria Tertiary qualifications in an exercise science related field with eligibility for accreditation as an exercise physiologist with (Exercise & Sports Science Australia) ESSA. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional education and development. Demonstrated skills in professional clinical practice including the application of evidencebased practice in Exercise Physiologist in a hospital or community health setting. Experience in the physical activity management and rehabilitation of people with a wide variety of chronic and complex conditions. A strong understanding of the relationship between mental illness and poor physical health and how the exercise physiologist can contribute to improved health outcomes. Ability to deliver engaging groupbased therapies including health education, exercise and sport and recreational activities. Strong organisational and time management skills, clinical reasoning and decision making and ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.
