About the Role We are seeking a Training and Checking Aircrew Officer to join us at our Hobart / Cambridge Airport Facility supporting the StarFlight Australia Aeromedical, SAR and Air Law Enforcement operations for the people and State of Tasmania. Roster: Based on an equal time (nonstandard) work practice calculated over a 90day period. Flexibility is key to this role. Key Accountabilities Conduct Training and Checking duties for all Flight and Medical crew. Ensure operational standardisation of all crew in accordance with the StarFlight Aircrew Training manual. Ensure the currency and recency requirements for all flight and medical crew are maintained and documented. Oversee the serviceability and compliance of all operational role equipment. Arrange and oversee the logistics and planning of sortie profiles for annual training sorties. Liaise closely with the SFA HOTAC with regards to training delivery and profiles. Develop SFA check reports through Air Maestro, and oversight of the profiles for each department. Conduct rostered shifts to cover periods of annual leave and short notice shift coverage. Liaise closely with the Chief Pilot / Chief ACO on any matters pertaining to restrictions on operational capability. Assist the pilot to carry out all aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counterdisaster operations and other government support duties. Ensure the Captain is promptly advised on all matters affecting the safety, serviceability or effectiveness of the aircraft or the operation. Carry out all duties and training in accordance with the StarFlight Operations Manual. Assist in ensuring that all flight and task documentation is accurately completed and that all crews are adequately briefed and debriefed on any deficiencies promptly addressed. About You We are looking for an experienced Training and Checking Aircrew Officer with a background in a HEMS commercial or military environment, excellent communication skills, and a keen interest in being part of a team. You will be comfortable offering operational support including ground training, administrative and other nonflight tasks. Mandatory Requirements Minimum 1000 hours as a Helicopter Aircrew Officer Certificate IV Aviation Aircrew Officer Winch Endorsement Demonstrated Training and Checking experience within the EMS industry Minimum 100 hours NVIS experience, including night winching Front LeftHand Seat Operations (IFR) CASA Class 2 Medical Current Senior First Aid / CPR Crew Resource Management Ability to pass the StarFlight Functionality Assessment (ACO) see below Fully vaccinated against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella Zoster, Pertussis, Hepatitis B Hold or be eligible to hold a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (WRVP) Tasmania Highly Desirable Certificate IV Training and Assessment TAE40110 or above Thorough knowledge of Air Maestro Check and Training experience of ACO / MTS / RCO roles FLIR Operations AROC (Aeronautical Radio Operators Certificate) SAR / EMS experience on B412 or EC/H145 Functionality Assessment The Functionality Test for the ACO role consists of five components, all completed within a 2hour time frame. Abdominal Strength Test 30 situps in less than 2 minutes Upper Body Strength Test 20 pushups in less than 2 minutes Safe lifting techniques 5 kettlebell deadlifts 1km Equipment Transfer (16kg) under 10 minutes 500m Stretcher Carry (16kg) under 6 minutes Benefits & Conditions Salary packaging: up to $15,900 per Fringe Benefit Tax year towards general living expenses. National police check required as a condition of employment. All aircrew must be fully vaccinated against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella Zoster, Pertussis, Hepatitis B.
