About The Role BRG is seeking an experienced Commercial Officer (Level 3) to support the Space Domain Awareness Capability SPO (SDAC SPO) within OBC SSB (Space). This role will provide contracting and procurement support across a complex Defence environment, contributing to compliant, timely and value-for-money procurement outcomes. The successful candidate will provide commercial support across procurement and contract management activities, while preparing high-quality documentation, advising on commercial and legal matters, and supporting effective stakeholder engagement and risk management. This is a strong opportunity for someone with solid commercial capability who can operate confidently in a complex and sensitive Commonwealth environment. Key Details Location: Adelaide preferred; Canberra considered Engagement: Commercial Officer Level 3 Project / SPO: OBC SSB (Space) / SDAC SPO Skill: 4.2 Procurement Methodologies & Contracting Options & Tender Development Level 3 Duties & Responsibilities The Commercial Officer will support the delivery of the following outcomes: Deliver end-to-end procurement activities in an efficient, compliant and timely manner, supporting value-for-money outcomes Provide sound commercial and procurement advice across policy and technical, commercial, legal and financial matters Prepare high-quality and commercially sensitive correspondence, reports, submissions and contract change proposals Identify, communicate and manage commercial risks, legal principles and contractual performance requirements Ensure procurement and contracting activities comply with the Commonwealth Procurement Framework and mandatory legislative and policy obligations Analyse procurement, contracting and contract performance risks, and support practical mitigation strategies Build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support negotiation, risk management and procurement outcomes To be Successful To succeed in this role, you will bring: Demonstrated commercial experience supporting procurement and contract management activities end to end Ability to operate effectively in large, complex and high-risk environments Strong understanding of government procurement and legislative frameworks, or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear briefings, reports and sensitive correspondence Strong commercial judgement, critical thinking and problem-solving capability Proven stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills across a diverse range of stakeholders High levels of integrity, professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive commercial or legal matters Strong organisational skills, initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities Desirable Qualifications in Law, Business, Commerce, Finance, Contract Management and/or Procurement Working knowledge of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules Working knowledge of project governance If this opportunity aligns with your experience and interests, we''d love to hear from you.
