What You''ll Be Doing We are looking for an experienced speech pathologist to join the acute care team, focusing across the neuroscience caseload on the wards, the intensive care unit and the emergency department. In this role, you will use your specialist skills and experience to manage and direct evidenced based delivery of quality speech pathology services at Royal North Shore Hospital. You will be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, working Monday to Friday across a variety of acute care wards and outpatient clinics as required with real impact on swallowing and communication for our patients. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply. Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria Bachelor or postgraduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia. Recent, extensive and varied postgraduate clinical experience as a level 2 Speech Pathologist or above. Demonstrated excellent clinical knowledge and extensive skills and experience in the management of adult dysphagia and communication across the acute setting, particularly the Neurosciences and a high level of contemporary interventional speech pathology skills. Demonstrated extensive skills and knowledge in instrumental assessment of swallowing, including VFSS & FEES. Proven ability to work autonomously. With confidence, has the ability to prioritise work, manage conflicting demand, monitor individual performance, problem solve and utilise independent professional judgement. About the Role The opportunity is a temporary full-time speech pathology position providing leadership and clinical expertise across the adult acute neuroscience caseload at RNSH Hospital, including adult outpatients and within the weekly Video-Fluoroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS) clinic. The main purpose is to provide accurate assessment and intervention for patients with swallowing and communication disorders within the acute wards and associated outpatients at RNSH, including instrumental assessment, while supporting the clinical development of students and less experienced clinicians. The opportunity for ongoing temporary part-time employment may be available upon completion of the contract, subject to service needs.
