Aboriginal Project Officer (Research & Information) Department: Youth Justice Temporary full time up to 7 April 2027 Location Surry Hills with access to hybrid working arrangement Clerk Grade 7/8, Salary ($113,574 - $125,720 pa), plus employer''s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only The Project Officer performs project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects in line with established objectives. The role is committed to improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by ensuring that all research methodology, delivery, and analysis is culturally safe for all Aboriginal young people and/or staff who wish to contribute to research. The role will develop and maintain relationships with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders to successfully deliver a range of projects and assist the accessibility of data and information to Indigenous community members and management, ensuring inclusion of Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Indigenous Data Governance principles in all data collection and data sharing practices. What Youll Do Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope, in line with established agency project management methodology. Undertake research, monitoring and evaluation projects including preparation of research plans, data collection and analysis and reporting writing to ensure accessibility of quality information and support informed decision-making and planning. Review and provide feedback on Aboriginal Impact Statements submitted to the RIU to ensure research conducted with young people supervised by Youth Justice NSW and/or Youth Justice NSW staff and/or Youth Justice NSW data considers the impact of the research on Aboriginal people. Develop and maintain relationships with Aboriginal communities, and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations with internal and external stakeholders, to successfully deliver a range of projects. Source, collate and compile data and information to identify emerging issues, ensuring quality information is accessible to Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders to support informed decision-making and planning. Communicate respectfully with Aboriginal communities in a culturally sensitive way (Yindyamarra with respect). What Were Looking For NSW Working with Children Check clearance for paid employment Confirmation of Aboriginality by one of the following: Confirmation of Aboriginality form; or written confirmation from 23 Aboriginal organisations that identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and is accepted by the community.
