Drive district-wide, evidence-based harm reduction as Northern Sydney Local Health Districts (NSLHD) Health Education Officer RUSH NSP across two Community Health Centres and scaling frontline support through secondary and outreach services. Champion equitable access for harder-to-reach populations by advancing early BBV diagnosis, maximising treatment uptake, and strengthening the Hepatitis C model of care. Deliver clean injecting equipment, brief interventions, targeted health education (including Take Home Naloxone), and high-impact training that lifts community health outcomes. Where you''ll be working Various Locations What You''ll Be Doing The NSP Health Education Officer is responsible for the delivery of specialist services to people who inject drugs, and to associated networks and services within the Northern Sydney community. The work includes the provision of drug using equipment, brief interventions and informal counselling within the context of a holistic model of health. This position also involves the delivery of a range of prevention/health promotion initiatives to reduce harms associated with injecting drug use. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply. Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria Tertiary qualifications, or working towards tertiary qualifications in Behavioural/Social Sciences, Drug and Alcohol, Health, Education or related areas, or relevant work experience in related fields. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of HIV, hepatitis C and other blood borne viruses and the principles of harm minimisation. Comprehensive understanding of issues affecting individuals who inject drugs inclusive of social, legal and ethical factors. The ability to relate to people who inject drugs in a non-judgemental manner and sensitivity to lifestyle issues. Demonstrated competency in computer, written and verbal communication skills. An ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently with minimal supervision. Current NSW drivers licence and the ability to work in various locations across the LHD.
