The Genetic Counsellor provides genetic information and counselling to clients and their families, organises appropriate genetic tests under supervision of a clinical geneticist or relevant medical officer, and supports individuals and families to minimise the impact of a genetic diagnosis. Ideal Candidate Must have an undergraduate degree in a nonnursing, nonmedical discipline and a postgraduate qualification in genetic counselling, boardeligible with the Board of Censors for Genetic Counselling (Human Genetics Society of Australasia), and a commitment to work towards full certification. Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the provision of genetic counselling services and experience in a clinical genetic unit. Benefits Paid parental leave and annual leave loading.
