About The Hutchins School The Hutchins School, established in 1846, is an Anglican Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 day and boarding school in Hobart, Tasmania. We are seeking a dedicated and culturally responsive Bilingual Education Support Assistant (Mandarin) to support children in our Early Learning Centre, from Pre-Kindergarten through to Year 2. This role plays an important part in helping students connect with their learning, develop routines, and build confidence. Working closely with classroom teachers, you will provide targeted language and learning support, enabling studentsparticularly those with English as an Additional Languageto fully engage in our learning environment. About the Role Based primarily in our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms, you will: Support students to access learning, routines, and assessments in Mandarin and English Provide one-on-one and small group support, as directed by the classroom teacher Assist students to develop social skills, emotional wellbeing, and confidence in the classroom Support transitions between classes and specialist lessons Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment Provide feedback to teachers on student development, wellbeing, and learning needs Assist with day-to-day classroom routines and practical activities This role operates under the direction and supervision of classroom teachers, who retain responsibility for teaching, assessment, and communication with families. This is a permanent position working 8am to 12:30pm Monday to Friday during school term time only. About You You are a collaborative and caring professional who enjoys working with young children and values the importance of language in learning and development.
