Primary objective The Recruitment Officer provides high level advice to managers and staff and is responsible for development and maintenance of recruitment systems and procedures in line with the Department of Children and Families policy and legislative requirements. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Provide advice to managers and selection panels, including legislation, relocation, entitlements, merit selection and recruitment processes. 2. Assist with bulk recruitment and provide support to selection panels. 3. Liaise with and provide relevant information to potential recruits. 4. Coordinate recruitment campaigns and careers expos. 5. Assist with the development of recruitment policies, procedures and guidelines. 6. Provide support in relation to workforce development projects such as market allowances, sponsorships of overseas employees and other recruitment and retention initiatives. Selection criteria Essential 1. Significant operation recruitment, workforce management consultancy and advisory experience in a complex and diverse environment. 2. Understanding and knowledge of the legislative, policy and administrative instruments that directly relate to recruitment and retention programs. 3. Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including high level report writing, and the ability to consult with a wide range of individuals, organisations and service providers. 4. Demonstrated ability to undertake research, with analytical and problem-solving skills. 5. Understanding of and commitment to the principles of human resources and equity, with the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures. 6. High level organisational skills with proven ability to set priorities, manage workloads and to meet deadlines. 7. Ability to work effectively in a self-managed team environment, work under pressure and display sound professional ethics of confidentiality and discretion. Desirable 1. High level computer skills including knowledge in the use of Departmental mainframe programs such as PIPS (Personal Integrated Payroll System). 2. Understanding of the labour market dynamics in the Northern Territory and more broadly, nationally and internationally with the ability to provide timely and appropriate advice.
